An October in Istanbul

The October issue of British Vogue invites us to escape to Istanbul for the weekend, and we did just that. This month, we had a busy week in our factory (stay tuned for a brand new collection that will be unveiled soon) in Istanbul: a city of rich cultural heritage, exciting art scene, a place where craftsmanship is celebrated (and hence the reason where all of our products are made by hand). We had a day of ‘playing tourist’, that first started with a visit to the rich historical sites of Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Basilica. Then, we made our way to the picturesque hotel that used to be an Ottoman palace, Ciragan Kempinski, and ended up going to an exhibition of Joan Miro. The evening finished at a family-owned seafood restaurant with freshly caught fish and organic food. This is what Istanbul is about: it has a way of surprising, delighting, and keeping you present with its varied colours, tastes and smells.

Paris Fashion Week never fails to hit the high notes in terms of creativity, excitement and luxury. Paris is also one of my favourite cities for beauty, food and retail therapy. These are my top 10 must visits when in Paris. Fashionistas rejoice!

1. Colette: A must visit, this highly fashionable, quirky, and fabulous boutique is a must visit for anyone who is, or wants to be in fashion, or simply likes to shop. I never return from Paris not having visited or bought myself a little souvenir.

Colette, 52  Rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, France

2. Cafe Ruc or Cafe Marly (or any Costes group eateries for that matter): An Aller Retour and frites pour moi si'll vous plait.

Cafe Ruc, 159 Rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, France / Cafe Marly, 93 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France

3. The nearest Pharmacy: To stock up on Urgo Magnesium B6 supplements, Osciococcinum and other Boiron homeopathic remedies. A recent find is Phytophanere hair vitamins. They seem to be working so far.

4. Angelina’s: The hot chocolate is beyond. Skip the hideous queue and get a hot chocholate and a Mont Blanc to go from the small patisserie counter on the right.

Angelina's, 226 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France

5. Merci: For washed linen sheets in sorbet shades.

Merci, 111 boulevard Beaumarchais, 75003 Paris, France

6. BonTon: The cooler less bourgeois diffusion label of Bonpoint, a must for all kids clothes and accessories.

BonTon, 5 Boulevard des Filles du Calvaire, 75003 Paris, France

7. Brasserie Lipp: For the perfect steak tartare and a mille feuille with a traditional vibe.

Brasserie Lipp, 151 Boulevard Saint-Germain 75006 Paris, France

8. The Dior Spa: It's the ultimate escape. Book in for a facial which incorporates a wonderfully relaxing massage.

Dior Institut, Plaza Athénée, 25 Avenue Montaigne, 75008 Paris, France

9. The Tuileries: For a stroll in the iconic gardens of the Louvre.

Jardin des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde, 75001 Paris, France

10. Institut de Guerlain: The spa is incomparably luxurious, the pedicures are perfect and facials super indulgent.

Institut de Guerlain, 68 Champs-Elysées, 75008 Paris, France
